Delivery partners launch federally funded ElevateIP services in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan

KITCHENER, ONT., November 23, 2023 — Communitech, Invest Ottawa and North Forge are hosting a virtual event today, Nov. 23, to launch a federal initiative in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan that helps startups protect and leverage their intellectual property.

KITCHENER, ON – Communitech, Invest Ottawa and North Forge are hosting a virtual event today, Nov. 23, to launch a federal initiative in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan that helps startups protect and leverage their intellectual property.

ElevateIP provides startups with three tiers of support: understanding IP, designing an IP strategy for your specific business, and implementing that strategy.

Services include education offerings and awareness resources; strategy development, including patent mining, prior art searches, trademark searches, agreement review, and more; and strategy implementation, such as patent drafting/filing/prosecution, trademark registration, licensing agreement creation, open-source audits, and more.  

ElevateIP is a nationwide initiative funded through Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. It was announced in the 2021 federal budget, which included a commitment for $90 million over four years, starting in 2022-2023. Communitech was one of five regional organizations across Canada chosen to deliver the programming. It was awarded $38 million in federal funding and is working with Invest Ottawa, North Forge Technology Exchange and other partners to design and deliver ElevateIP programming in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Smart, strategic IP management is a key ingredient for a startup’s early growth and competitiveness. Protecting IP can help attract investors, fend off competitors and expand into new markets.

Aider les entreprises en démarrage à bénéficier de la propriété intellectuelle

Les partenaires de prestation lancent les services ÉleverlaPI financés par le gouvernement fédéral en Ontario, au Manitoba et en Saskatchewan

KITCHENER, ON – Aujourd’hui le 23 novembre Communitech, Investir Ottawa et North Forge organisent un événement virtuel pour lancer une initiative fédérale en Ontario, au Manitoba et en Saskatchewan visant à aider les entreprises en démarrage à protéger et à exploiter leur propriété intellectuelle.

ÉleverlaPI offre aux entreprises en démarrage trois niveaux de soutien : comprendre la propriété intellectuelle, concevoir une stratégie en matière de propriété intellectuelle pour votre entreprise et mettre en œuvre cette stratégie.

Les services offerts comprennent des formations et des ressources de sensibilisation; le développement de stratégies, y compris l’exploration de brevets, la recherche d'antériorités, la recherche de marques, la révision d'accords, etc.; et la mise en œuvre de stratégies, telles que la rédaction/le dépôt/la poursuite de brevets, l'enregistrement de marques, la création d'accords de licence, les audits de sources ouvertes, et plus encore.  

ÉleverlaPI est une initiative nationale financée par Innovation, Sciences et Développement économique Canada. Cette initiative a été annoncée dans le budget fédéral de 2021, qui prévoyait un engagement de 90 millions de dollars sur quatre ans, à compter de 2022-2023. Communitech était l'une des cinq organisations régionales à travers le Canada choisies pour offrir le programme. Cette organisation a reçu 38 millions de dollars de financement du gouvernement fédéral et travaille en collaboration avec Investir Ottawa, North Forge Technology Exchange et d'autres partenaires pour concevoir et offrir des programmes d’ÉleverlaPI en Ontario, au Manitoba et en Saskatchewan.
