KITCHENER, Ontario – (May 9, 2018) – Christie® is pleased to be part of LAUNCH Waterloo’s LAUNCH Dayan event taking place Saturday May 12 from noon until 4:00 p.m. in the Centre for International Governance and Innovation (CIGI) at 67 Erb Street West in Waterloo. The afternoon brings children in grades 6-8 together with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) for a day of inspiration and networking. Owen Remers, Christie’s Senior Manager of Open Innovation, will be speaking to the importance of including the ‘A’ (the Arts) in traditional STEM initiatives. Christie is providing a projection mapping demonstration and mentoring. The occasion is a kick-off for Launch Waterloo and its plans to develop a science center in Waterloo at Bridgeport and King St in the old Post Office building.

The CIGI Campus is a hub of Canadian-based research and studies in international affairs. Built on the site of the former Seagram Distillery, the campus is home to academic and research programs that are partnerships between the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and other institutions, including the Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA).

“Christie is proud to sponsor this important event, which showcases how Waterloo Region is home to some of the world’s technology leaders not only of today, but tomorrow,” said Kathryn Cress, vice president, global & corporate marketing, Christie. “With both world class research facilities and universities, as well as initiatives such as LAUNCH, Waterloo Region continues to excel in being a science and technology hub.”
