In a major expansion of its Waterloo Region innovation activities, TD Bank Group will open a new office to accommodate more than 120 jobs dedicated to technology advancement over the next year.

The new facility, at 55 Columbia St. E. in Waterloo, will build on the local presence TD established just over a year ago, when it opened an innovation lab in the Communitech Hub in Kitchener’s Lang Tannery complex. TD Lab, as it is known, acts as a startup, using technology to drive improvements in customer experience.

"TD is committed to building an innovation ecosystem that allows us to bring best-in-class digital experiences to our customers," said Teri Currie, Group Head Direct Channels, Technology, Marketing and People Strategies at TD, in a statement released today. "Establishing a deeper footprint in this innovation hub allows us to draw from the region’s specialized talent pool and groundbreaking developments in technology as we grow our digital offerings."

The new Waterloo office is an extension of TD’s effort to promote innovation within the bank, in which employees are challenged to come up with ideas and think differently about their customers’ needs. So far, the bank has collected close to 10,000 ideas, a process that has helped it chart its digital course for the future.

Employees at the new Waterloo office will work in the fields of information technology and software engineering. Interested applicants can visit http://jobs.td.com or connect with TD at http://connect.find.ly/tdlb-cws-join-en.
