Two cohorts of startups-in-residence move into the Communitech Hub today, to begin two new Startup Services Group initiatives, both supported by industry giants.

In its fifth cohort, the Co-working powered by Google welcomes five new companies who will receive six-months free workspace at the Hub, access to Google development tools, mentors and $4,000 to develop their products.

Two companies make up the first cohort of the new Communitech Digital Media Accelerator, supported by Christie. They’ll receive access to hardware, software, development tools and one-on-one mentorship and support from industry experts at Christie, plus six-months tenancy at the Hub.

Babylon VR uses virtual reality to help visualize renovation projects before it happens, so customers are able to experience the finished result and verify designs before committing to large purchases and starting construction.

Eyeread

Every child’s digital reading coach. Adaptive, multisensory games that combine science and play to help children between the ages of 4 to 8 years old to better acquire essential reading skills.

Onyx Motion

Swish is an app for the Apple Watch and Android Wear that turns playing basketball into a digital game. The app uses the sensors on board a smartwatch to analyze motion and provides coach-approved ways to improve. Swish brings a consistent coaching experience to any time and any location.

InkSmith

InkSmith is the expert resource on filament (ink) for FDM 3D printing. The website will host the results of a filament research project to help bring standards, accountability and transparency to the industry. InkSmith plans to launch several new competitive filament lines by the end of July 2016.
