Allow us to introduce Krys Gray, a young entrepreneur looking to change the way we snack with his beef jerky subscription service, Beefy Jerks. Having recently won $5,000 in start-up capital through the Canon Get Started program, Beefy Jerks is a welcome and innovative addition to the booming artisanal food product industry.
Dissatisfied with the lack of healthy corner-store snack options, Gray’s solution is handcrafted, preservative-free, low-carb, and high-protein beef jerky. Consumers have a choice of flavours and regular, free-range, or organic beef to fit their needs and preferences, and can even have their gluten-free or paleo diets catered to.
Gray is homing in on health-conscious athletes and young professionals seeking artisanal food products by making his product available at Toronto farmers’ markets and via online subscription for direct delivery to your home or office. Within a couple years’ time, Gray hopes to expand into the American market. Beefy Jerks will use its $5,000 in start-up capital primarily to cover equipment costs, kitchen rental fees, general expenses, and marketing.
“This grant will allow us to develop the infrastructure to launch our subscription program, and for that we’re truly grateful,” says the Beefy Jerks founder. “I hope the knowledge that companies such as Canon are out there supporting us will give others the drive to take their first steps toward the career goals they dream of.”
So do we!
