Tech company, Media Sonar, is part of a three-year provincial initiative that will help provide support services to trafficked women/girls, their families, and community agencies across Ontario.
London, ON - Media Sonar, a big data analytics provider that specializes in security and risk management, has partnered with London Abused Women’s Centre, Salvation Army Correctional & Justice Services (SACJS) and Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) in a unique initiative to provide a coordinated continuum of support services to trafficked and sexually exploited women and girls, their families and community agencies across the province.
“We are proud to be part of the fight against human trafficking across Ontario,” states David Strucke, CEO of Media Sonar. “Participating in important projects, such as this, is completely aligned with what motivates us every day at Media Sonar.”
In applying big data analytics across surface and deep web channels, Media Sonar will assist community agencies and local authorities to locate trafficked girls/women reported missing by their families across Ontario in order to connect them to services across the province. This will increase vulnerable girls/women’s access to support and provide them with options.
“Technology can play a leading role in the solution against human trafficking. Our main focus has always been to build technology that can be used to make the world around us safer. We do that by gathering and applying big data analytics on hard-to-retrieve surface, deep and dark web data. For this project, we seek to help reduce the time it takes to find these victims,” states Mr. Strucke.
The funding will also provide long-term trauma-informed counselling, transitional support, and system navigation to Ontario women and girls who are being sexually exploited; provide peer-led mobile crisis response and a 24-hour crisis line, and offer outreach and prevention to at risk-women and youth in Ontario. This partnership will also offer family members of trafficked and sexually exploited women and girls through Ontario and Canada support and advocacy.
