Get out your markers and poster board. Dust off those noisemakers. It’s time once again for Startup Smackdown.
Join us ringside on Thursday, September 26 as this ever-popular startup competition returns to the Region.
We’re excited to welcome back judges Mark McArdle (former CEO tinyHippos) and Carol Leaman (Axonify) who will be joined by special guest judge all the way from the Valley, Garry Tan!
Ryan Coelho from GameOn Leadership will once again be ensuring a fair fight and pumping up the crowd as our ref for the evening.
Some Startup Smackdown FAQ
What is a Startup Smackdown?
It’s a fast pitch competition, where startups are called to the ring to pitch in front of the panel of judges. They will critique the pitches in front of a live audience (that’s you!) and the startup with the best pitch will be crowned winner of the Startup Smackdown.
How do you make the most of a Startup Smackdown?
Come prepared! Sure, traditional applause is great, but in Startup Smackdown loud noisemakers, facepaint, posters and other props are strongly encouraged to get the startups hyped up (just please no airhorns; they’re just obnoxious).
Who is competing? Competing companies will include AvidTap, BSG (Togethr), Trufl, Kreyonic, Market Clouds, Renomii, Stratahub, StudyBucks, Tacit Innovations, Smile Epidemic, Symple ID (subject to change based on final weigh-ins).
How can I get there?

A special thanks to Debbie Landa as Startup Smackdown originated at the Grow Conference.
Another special thanks to our Presenting Partners: Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) and the City of Kitchener.
