Waterloo Region, ON – September 25, 2012 – Opportunity grows for displaced RIM workers as Communitech’s job fair Tech Jobs+ welcomes businesses from outside the tech industry and beyond the Region. In the second hiring event since the Province’s announcement of a program to assist displaced RIM workers, Communitech will be expanding parameters for the event slated for September 27 from 3-7 p.m. at Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener.
“We recognize that many former RIM employees have skillsets that will be transferable to other industries, so for this event we wanted to have companies outside of tech participating, such as manufacturing and wholesale,” said Karen Gallant, Senior Director of Talent Networks at Communitech. “We also have companies coming from London, Ontario looking for great talent.”
Some of the high-profile companies attending this event include: Agfa Healthcare Inc.; Aima; Arctic Wolf Networks Inc.; Athena Software; Autodata Solutions; Boom Digital Media Group; Clearpath Robotics; Communitech; Dean Group; Desire2Learn; Electronic Arts; Enflick Inc.; Equitable Life Insurance Company; Exinda Networks; The Ian Martin Group; Info-Tech Research Group; Intelligent Mechatronic Systems Inc.; Itec Group; I Think Security; JBB Mobile; Jomar Software; London Life; London Tech Jobs; Lone Wolf Real Estate Technologies; Martyn Bassett Associates Inc.; Miovision Technologies Inc.; NDS/Cisco; Nuance Communications; One-Eighty Corp; OpenText; The PEER Group; Procom; QA Consultants, Qwalify, Revera Inc., RDM, Right Management, Sun Life, Sweet Tooth, Tangam Systems; Tech Jobs Connex; Teledyne Dalsa; Trustwave; Unitron Hearing; University of Waterloo (Information Systems and Technology Department); Weston Bakeries Limited; World Financial Group of Canada.
Gallant said the former TechVibes recruiting events have been renamed to Tech Jobs+ to recognize the incremental programs being supported by Communitech in partnership with the Province, RIM, and regional post-secondary institutions including establishing a job action centre at the Accelerator Centre in Waterloo.
Communitech’s talent programs are intended to bring together numerous high-profile employers and prospective employees under one roof.
“This type of event makes it easier and more efficient for tech and general industries alike to quickly find the top talent they are looking for,” said Gallant.
Applicants can attend the Tech Jobs+ event at Bingemans Embassy Room, 425 Bingemans Centre Drive, Kitchener on Thursday, September 27 from 3-7 p.m. for one-on-one meetings with industry experts.
